GlauCap®

Citicoline + Lecithin, Coenzyme Q10, and L-Arginine

GlauCap® is a premium dietary supplement developed in collaboration with ophthalmologists, combining citicoline, lecithin, essential micronutrients, and coenzyme Q10 to specifically support the nutritional requirements of the eyes and nervous system.

The included vitamins A, B2 (riboflavin), and zinc contribute to the maintenance of normal vision, while vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, vitamin C, and copper support the normal function of the nervous system and energy metabolism. In addition, zinc, selenium, copper, and vitamins C, E, and B2 help protect cells from oxidative stress. The formulation is further complemented by curcumin, black pepper extract, and bilberry anthocyanins.

Eye – Retina – Optic Nerve – Brain

For precise and rapid information processing, the eye and the brain—particularly their neuronal cells—require large amounts of energy, oxygen, and also micronutrients. Both the eye and the brain are among the most metabolically active tissues in the human body.

To meet these high demands, an efficient vascular system ensures the continuous supply of oxygen and nutrients to the involved structures. The high metabolic activity also results in increased formation of free radicals—highly reactive molecules which damage cellular structures. To protect themselves against oxidative stress, as well as against overload from metabolic and cellular degradation products, the nerve cells of the eye and brain are equipped with complex protective mechanisms, including:

  • Natural free radical scavengers and antioxidant enzymes that neutralize free radicals.
  • Immunological processes that help degrade, remove, or recycle damaged cellular components.

These protective mechanisms are essential for maintaining the functioning of the sensitive structures of the visual system. Many of these processes are influenced by nutrition, particularly by the adequate supply of micronutrients.

  1. Light carrying visual information reaches the retina.
  2. Photoreceptors (rods and cones) convert light into electrical signals.
  3. Three types of interneurons process these signals and transmit them to the retinal ganglion cells.
  4. These ganglion cells have very long axons that form the optic nerve.
  5. The optic nerve transmits the information to the brain.
  6. The “visual experience” is generated in the visual cortex of the brain.
